形態特徵

• Culms graceful, smooth, straight, 6-20 m tall, 5-15 cm in diam., flattened or grooved on one side on alternate internodes, internodes 20-30 cm long; nodes prominent; branches usually 2 at each node.
• Sheath of culm subcoriaceous, glabrous, dark brown spotted outside, entire; auricles of sheath conspicuous, caducous; ligule of sheath small and narrow; blade of sheath narrow, subulate, recurved, acute at apex. Leaves 3-5, sometimes to 7, oblong-lanceolate, 10-15 cm long, 1.5-2 cm broad, acute, base obtuse smooth above, glaucous beneath, pubescent on midrib toward base, veins 5-7, veinlets 8, tessellate, densely spinulose-scabrous along one margin, other entire; petiole short; auricles of leaf conspicuous with tufts of bristles when young; ligule of leaf, convex; sheath of leaf glabrous, ciliate along one side.
• Spickelets single or several at nodes of a leafy or leafless branchlet, 4-8 cm long, 4-6 mm in diam., 2-5-flowered; outer bract sub-coriaceous, 10-40 mm long, 5-20 mm wide, with a blade at apex; glumes 2, lanceolate, 17 mm long; lemmas broadly lanceolate, 18-22 mm long, veins 15-21, densely hairy on surfaces and along margins; paleas narrowly lanceolate, 17-20 mm long, 2-keeled, bilobed at apex, veins 3 between keels and 3-5 between each keel and edge, hairy along keels; gynoecium 2.7 cm long; ovary 3 mm long, vascular strand absent; style 24 mm long, ending in 2 feathery stigmas; stamens 3, filaments 3.5 cm long, anthers 12 mm long; lodicules 3.3-5 mm long, minutely ciliate along margins.
• Fruit broadly linear-lanceolate, 10-14 mm long, 2.0-2.5 mm in diam., acuminate at apex, style persistent.

分布

• 台灣 : Introduced into Meishan, Chiayi since early times; planted in Taipei, Taichung, Nantou and Kaohsiung, at low elevations.
• 世界 : Japan and mainland China, extending westward to the Himalayan.
